Bonjour people!

I wanted to share my new website with you. Thanks to @hannahhhmilan's incredible resources on accessibility, I implemented a lot of changes.

I'm now working with indie makers using tech for good as well as charities. So redesigning my website was an important step for me to better match their expectations.

If anyone would like to discuss accessibility, point out things I might have overlooked, online positioning or just web design, feel free to reach out. I love meeting new people from this community.

Hey, wow it looks so nice and it loads really fast and smooth!

Could you please tell what stack you used? I'd also like to know more about your animation techniques.

I'm working on a personal site this month, and I've found that the animations are slowing the performance. Perhaps you could share some tips :) My site is currently live at https://meljones.netlify.app/

The positioning on your site is a bit off on my little laptop (MacBook 12inch / 1280px) the Bonjour goes over the lefthand side menu, I think you could bring the font-size down a little for small laptops or decrease the left padding/margin.

But great job, I think it's looking very elegant and clean. Sorry I have no accessibility tips to add, but I will take your advice and check out the resources you shared. I need to do an accessibility check on my site too.

Cheers,
Mel

Hi Mel, thank you so much for your message.

First off, I checked your site and I love it, do you do freelance work? If so, we should talk. I just launched a freelance collective and we're looking for front-end devs to work with us. You can find out more at https://thea-collective.com and let me know if that sounds interesting.

As for my site, I did everything on Webflow. I wouldn't be able to tell you much about how animations are slowing performance yet. I need to dig in the data which I haven't yet.

Good point about the font size though! Webflow allows you to create multiple views so I should be able to fix that.

Let me know how the accessibility checkup works for you. I would recommend starting with this https://a11ygator.chialab.io/ (especially for a dev, you'd understand the results much quicker than I did!).
