Every year Digital Ocean does a contest centered around supporting open source. The first 50k people to make 4 pull requests to an open source project get some goodies and a limited edition t-shirt. I love Hacktoberfest! I'm hosting an NYC meetup on October 16th. I like to pick some Ruby on Rails projects to contribute to, and some from companies that have their own challenges within Hacktoberfest to get some extra swag
