Love how thorough this article is, but I feel like “the maternal wall” IS sexism. It’s just not as overt as “you are a woman and therefore not smart enough for this job.” And it’s not completely sexism in part of the employer, it’s sexism in society that dictates women should shoulder more of the responsibility of child rearing.

Definitely, I agree with you. And it’s sad that this is a question women ask themselves but not necessarily men.
