Hey ladies. As a designer & founder I do love writing. But the moments when 😅 you need to find something in a 🏔 of your notebooks are 🥵. So I started experimenting with paperless approach.
So far my favorites are:
- iPad Pro + pencil + Paper app. Feels like a real notebook. But if you write a lot (move your hand on a glass surface) - get yourself an artist glove.
- Paper by Dropbox turned out to be the best thing for mood boards, briefs, ideas and little surveys. It automatically organizes all images in a nice looking grid, have the easiest tables and saves links in a preview mode
- Trello for managing editorial team and plan the content
- DayOne for thanking notes on the go

I can’t say that this is a perfect stack, but it what works for me.

What hacks / tools do you use

Hey Natalie, Thanks for sharing! I use:

  • Notability on iPad Pro to make markup/notes on docs
  • Notion to organize projects, readings, content planning, notes, basically everything else

Thanks for sharing! I'm gonna look up Paper by Dropbox, that sounds pretty useful. I like to keep my workflow within only a couple of apps to decrease logging in and I like things to be easily accessible and interconnected. Fortunately, majority of my devices are by Apple which greatly help.

  • Notes (Apple) - I use this a lot because I don't need to log in and the sync is seamless among all my devices
  • Notion - When I have a chance to sit down in front of the computer, I write them all in Notion. Keeps all my thoughts and resources organized.
  • Google Drive - I can upload any files quickly and enable folder syncing. Quickly sharing docs with people also help.
  • Figma - I use this not only for prototyping, but creating digital art and surprisingly sharing 'storyboards'. I don't need to worry about OS compatibility and all changes are saved immediately. Guests can edit or leave comments.

Thanks for sharing. Will check Figma on a weekend. Unfortunately Notes by Apple don’t work for me anymore. Used it as a library of ideas and design inspiration. Long story short it became too heavy > buggy😅🥵.
